Never Underestimate The Power Of a Four Door That's exactly what Mike Johnson's rear license plate frame says. And the actual plate reads: 4DR-VET. Not exactly a sports car, the Impala SS has plenty of room for the family, lots of towing capacity and, with its basic 260 ponies, goes well. But since Mike became the recipient for our prototype '94-'96 Impala SS turbo system, he and the family have been going places with a little more zip in their driving. Surrendering the 4,200 lb Impala for a month or two, he's now driving a LT-1 V8 pumping out 314 hp and 352 ft.lbs. torque @ 4,500 rpm at the rear wheels, with  flywheel horsepower upwards of 400hp. With the new Dynometer installed @ Turbo Tech, repeated simulated runs gave figures and 1/4-mile times of 12.60 @ 113 mph were accomplished on their rollers using 92 octane gas and our pre-set maximum of 7 psi! Complete in every facet from K&N air filter to the dual catalytic converters and SLP 2.5-inch exhaust system (he purchased this separately after the above-mentioned testing results), the only additional work on this Impala SS is inside the automatic tranny with a S-10 4x4 torque converter and 2200-2400 rpm stall, and a late-model Corvette servo. Also it has 3.42 ratio gears. The system is complete with Turbonetics T04B turbocharger, wastegate, intercooler, bypass valve, mandrel-bent stainless steel tube, fuel pump , and aluminum throttle body intake pipe.  As is our custom, the kit is ready to install with usual hand tools by the weekend mechanic (it's an approx. 8 hour installation complete with all the pieces).
