Yella Terra Christmas Challenge
December 26th, 2006
Perfect Boxing Day weather saw a strong crowd on show for the second round of the Rocket Industries Track Championship Series. The day also featured Jet Madness with jet powered dragsters, funny car, bike and a truck all performing demonstration runs.
There were many strong performances from street cars in particular. Some of the quicker V8’s included Andrew’s Hallam Performance ‘HYPO57’ Chev that ran in the mid nines, Stuart’s Super Gas Gemini was in the low nines while the Donza Racing Capri dipped into the eight second zone. The ‘ELIMN8’ XY Falcon was launching hard all day and ran into the tens manually shifting. Bert's turbo Chev Toyota Van was back and again cut a couple of ten second passes.
The quickest rotary on the day belonged to Stathi’s Independent Motorsports 13B turbo Gemini going 9.60/150 before improving to a 9.44/148. There were also a couple of quick four bangers out. Michael’s SR20 Corolla still runs on PULP fuel and managed a personal best pass of 9.80/139 thanks to a new set of cams. Darren’s Isuzu powered Gemini wasn’t too far behind at 9.89/137 before a shredded rear tyre put a premature ending to his day.
Mark’s ‘BIGPSI’ VL Calais is running a JPC improved engine and KEAS Jatco 3-speed setup that was enough to push Mark into the nines. The RB30 powered VL retains a factory bottom end and an un-ported head, but that didn’t stop Mark from going 10.10/136 on his first pass before improving to a 9.97/139 and a 9.93/139.
John Bresciani’s ‘PANNIC’ VL was having serious issues getting down the blacktop, blowing the tyres off around 100-feet out. John feathered the 8-second Bresciani Racing BT1 to an early 9.6/147.
Daniel's twin turbo RB30 chassis VL was back and trapped an early 10.24/140. The TRP crew were also down from Sydney with their Subaru EJ33 powered WRX. The guys recorded a few half passes early in the day. Paul's immaculate 'PROFC' 202 turbo Holden was over coming a few gremlins on the day but still managed a quick 11.89/120.
